Corsica Linea purchase KALLISTE from La Méridionale
FerryCorsica Linea has finalized the purchase of the RoPax ferry KALLISTE from La Méridionale. The vessel, previously at risk of being scrapped in Turkey, will be renamed CAPU DI MARU—after a scenic headland overlooking the Gulf of Ajaccio—and integrated into Corsica Linea’s operations following refit works.
KALLISTE, built in 1993 at Aker Finnyards, has a capacity for around 500 passengers and more than 2,300 lane metres of cargo space. It served La Méridionale for over three decades, primarily on Marseille–Corsica routes (including Propriano and Ajaccio) and has been on occasional charters to Corsica Linea. The ship has been laid up in Marseille since October 2025, amid plans to send it to demolition after industrial tensions and fleet optimization.
Corsica Linea’s social and economic committee recently approved the acquisition, reportedly for around EUR 4 million. After a technical stop at Chantier Naval de Marseille for maintenance, repainting in Corsica Linea’s signature red livery, and necessary upgrades, CAPU DI MARU is expected to enter service in late April.
Corsica Linea is also reportedly considering chartering La Méridionale’s MASSALIA for service later in the autumn of this year. MASSALIA is the former NORMANDIE, bought from Brittany Ferries at the end of 2024.
