Carus partners with new maritime venture Ålandslinjen
Carus announced a new strategic cooperation with Rederi Ab Ålandslinjen, the newly established shipping line set to restore the traditional maritime link between Mariehamn and Kapellskär. As a company headquartered on the Åland Islands, Carus will provide Ålandslinjen with a full suite of booking and reservation functionality, including the web booking, a consumer travel app, check-in and boarding software. A solution designed to ensure a seamless customer experience and operational efficiency, as the new carrier prepares for its anticipated launch.
For Carus, this partnership is deeply personal, representing a commitment to the prosperity of its home region. By implementing its globally proven digital solutions, Carus aims to give this local start-up the competitive edge necessary to thrive in the modern travel market.
“It is a great pleasure for us to support a local actor within the Åland archipelago,” says Anders Rundberg, CEO of Carus. “Everyone at Carus is enthusiastic about this new maritime venture to the islands. In these surroundings, maritime travel isn’t just an industry, it is the normal way to move and stay connected. Contributing our expertise to a project that benefits our neighbors and local economy is incredibly rewarding.”
The driving force behind Ålandslinjen, founder Johnny Sid, is currently coordinating with private investors and port authorities to finalize the operational details for the route, which targets two roundtrip departures daily during peak season. Sid emphasizes that the venture is a collective effort to fill a significant gap in regional transport.
“We are working hard to bring all stakeholders together to ensure a timely start to our ferry operations,” says Johnny Sid. “This is a regional affair at its heart, and I am excited that local companies like Carus are adding their professionalism and global experience to this venture. Their support ensures that Ålandslinjen will start on a foundation of international excellence.”
