Brødrene Aa Eiendom Establishes New Operations in Eikefjord – Working Towards Restart in Hyen
YardAfter Brødrene Aa AS filed for bankruptcy in June, intensive efforts have been made to find solutions that can ensure continued operations and preserve jobs in both Eikefjord and Hyen. New activity has now been established in Eikefjord, and progress is being made towards the continuation of newbuilding operations in Hyen.
Brødrene Aa Eiendom AS has founded a new company, Eikefjord Slipp AS, which has purchased the operational assets at the shipyard in Eikefjord and taken over ownership of Eikefjord Elektro AS. Together, the two companies will continue operations focused on refitting and maintenance of passenger vessels.
At the same time, an agreement has been reached with Fjord1 to complete the two refit projects currently at the Eikefjord yard. This will secure work for up to 40 employees, in addition to contracted resources.
“This is a very positive development, and we are pleased to be able to generate new activity and secure jobs in Eikefjord,” says Gustav Johan Nydal, Chairman of Brødrene Aa AS and advisor to Brødrene Aa Eiendom.
Meanwhile, concrete negotiations are ongoing with investors to establish a new operating company to continue the newbuild activities in Hyen. The effort is being carried out in close cooperation with the bankruptcy estate administrator and the bank, and a detailed business plan is now being prepared as a basis for purchasing operational assets and restarting production.
“Our goal is to restart in Hyen during August. We are seeing strong interest from investors, and many have already visited and expressed great enthusiasm for both the company and its products,” says Nydal.
Brødrene Aa Eiendom expresses optimism for the road ahead.
“We believe there will soon be healthy activity again in both Eikefjord and Hyen, and we hope to welcome back many of the former employees as we get operations up and running,” Nydal concludes.
