Brittany Ferries strengthens its Cherbourg-Rosslare route in Ireland with charter of NORBAY
Ro-roBrittany Ferries announces the entry into the fleet of the RoRo vessel NORBAY, which will strengthen the Cherbourg–Rosslare route from March 2026.
Seven weekly rotations
Following the withdrawal of Stena Line in October 2025, Brittany Ferries obtained additional slots and concluded the charter of a vessel for a period of one year, with option for an additional year. This deployment will make it possible to maintain seven weekly rotations throughout 2026, thus guaranteeing the continuity of service and offering carriers and logistics players greater visibility for the year.
"For our freight customers, stability and continuity are essential conditions for planning and transporting their goods from continental Europe to Ireland," said Christophe Mathieu, Chairman of the Board of Brittany Ferries.
"We can now confirm seven weekly rotations from Cherbourg for the whole of 2026, with the possibility of extending the charter or assigning another vessel before the end of the contract."
First commercial crossing on 23 March 2026
Commissioned in 1994, the NORBAY is 167 metres long and offers more than 2,000 lane metres dedicated to freight, as well as 57 cabins for drivers. Its first commercial crossing is scheduled for Monday, 23 March 2026.
The ship will operate three weekly rotations, in addition to departures operated by the COTENTIN and SALAMANCA, bringing the total to seven connections per week. Concluded for a defined period, the charter includes the provision of the crew. The vessel is chartered from its owner, P&O Ferries.
