Bornholmslinjen posts second-best July on record

FerryMolslinjen has recorded the second-best July in Bornholmslinjen's history, with passenger and vehicle numbers close to the 2023 record, though the strong result came with a cost in delay penalties.
A total of 373,043 passengers travelled to and from Bornholm in July 2026, up 4.4 per cent on last year's July figure of 357,232. Vehicle traffic also grew, with 99,811 cars carried across the route compared with 94,399 in July 2025, a rise of 5.7 per cent.

"Demand for Bornholm remains very strong, and it is naturally both satisfying and important for the island and its tourism industry that Danes are flocking to Bornholm to this extent," said Molslinjen's commercial director, Lucas Kragh.

The strong month was not without cost. Persistent delays throughout July mean the operator faces a penalty to the Danish state of just over DKK 1.3 million.

"As pleased as we are with our result, we are equally disappointed about the delays. Neither we nor our passengers can be satisfied with that," Kragh said.

He pointed to the reconstruction works at Rønne harbour and speed restrictions in Ystad as known contributing factors, while announcing a deeper review to identify further causes behind July's disruptions.

"We always evaluate after peak season, when we know our operation is under maximum pressure, but we owe it to Bornholm, to tourists and to ourselves to dig deeper and hopefully find answers and solutions that make next year's July better," he added.
