BC Ferries’ first two Island Class double-enders on their way to Canada

FerryDamen Shipyards Group’s Galati shipyard has completed the first two hybrid-electric Island Class ferries in a series of six it is building for BC Ferries. The 81.2m long and 17m beam double-enders were loaded on the semi-submersible vessel SUN RISE and will be introduced on the Powell River-Texada Island and Port McNeill-Alert Bay-Sointula routes by mid-2020.
