Baleària Canarias acquires Transportes Intercanarios

Baleària Canarias has completed the acquisition of Transportes Intercanarios S.A. from the Armas family, adding a land transport and port services network to its Canary Islands operations. The company announced the deal on 23 July 2026.

Baleària says the purchase supports its integrated maritime transport model by bringing sea and land activities under single ownership.

Founded in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1976, Transportes Intercanarios handles general cargo as well as machinery and port equipment, with branches in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and partner arrangements covering the remaining islands.

The acquired business brings around 60 staff and an operating fleet of more than 500 vehicles and cargo units, including tractor units, semi-trailers, flatbeds, port machinery, and refrigerated and insulated containers.

Baleària president Adolfo Utor said the acquisition adds a company with extensive experience, a team with detailed knowledge of the territory, and specialised equipment complementing the maritime business, adding that the strategic aim is to drive its growth and raise service quality.

No financial terms were disclosed.
