The general director of Baleària, Georges Bassoul, says: “The incorporation of Smart Ship SICILIA that sails on gas allows us to improve the offer and serve all travellers as part of our commitment to offer the best service on this route that in 2023 complied five years of activity ”.  

In the words of Fred Olsen Express’ fleet director, Juan Ignacio Liaño, “The integration of this new ship highlights how throughout these years the connection between the Canary Islands and Huelva has been consolidated. A necessary union that is a logistics and service improvement for all passengers and a connectivity alternative where a comfort and quality service is provided”.

As of 13 January, the line will have departures from Huelva every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, from Tenerife and Gran Canaria these journeys will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The modification of schedules has already been communicated to passengers who had reservations.

In November 2023, Fred. Olsen Express and Baleària celebrated their fifth anniversary jointly operating the maritime connections between the islands and the Peninsula. During these first years of service, the companies jointly transported a million lane metres and more than 155,000 passengers between Huelva and the Canary Islands.
