Balàeria and Fred. Olsen Express Boost Huelva-Tenerife Route with Fourth Weekly Summer Service
FerryBalàeria and Fred. Olsen Express increase their activity on the route between Huelva and the Canary Islands with the incorporation of a fourth weekly connection between the port of Huelva and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Between 15 July and 18 September, the companies offer an additional departure to the three they usually make, to meet the high demand expected for this summer period, both for passengers and for the transport of ro-ro goods between the Canary Islands and the Peninsula.
The route is operated by the SICILIA ferry, which can accommodate 1,000 passengers and 400 vehicles, and the MARIE CURIE ferry, which can accommodate more than 800 passengers and 600 vehicles. Thus, from 15 July, departures from Huelva are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the exception of the Wednesday service, which only has a connection with Tenerife. For its part, from the islands, there is one departure on Sundays and Mondays, and two on Thursdays from Tenerife.
Fred. Olsen Express’s fleet manager, Juan Ignacio Liaño, points out that “in 2024, this fourth extra trip a week allowed us to meet the high demand of the summer period, so this year we are incorporating this route again to adapt to the needs of passengers on our connection with the Peninsula.”
For his part, the general manager of Balàeria, Georges Bassoul, highlights that “the incorporation of a fourth weekly service also responds to the increase in demand for freight transport in the Canary Islands, a very important market for Balàeria.”
