Scandlines enjoys a successful easter with smooth operations
FerryEaster 2025 was a triumph for Scandlines, with thousands of passengers and vehicles traveling seamlessly between Germany and Denmark. Despite high traffic, the ferries operated without major disruptions, marking a significant improvement over last year. Car numbers surged by over 26%, and passenger numbers rose by 18% during the two-week Easter period.
“We’re thrilled with how Easter unfolded. It’s fantastic to see so many travelers choosing our routes, and even better that everything ran smoothly,” said Scandlines COO Michael Guldmann Petersen.
As summer approaches, Scandlines anticipates a busy season, expecting nearly 3 million passengers and 750,000 vehicles from June to August—almost half its annual traffic. With high demand for popular summer holiday departures, early booking is recommended to secure a spot and save up to 50% on tickets.
“There’s strong interest in school holiday sailings,” noted Lars Kyrø, Head of B-to-C Passengers at Scandlines. “Traveling during off-peak times can enhance your experience, and we’re committed to accommodating everyone.”
Scandlines’ dynamic ticketing system rewards early bookings and off-peak travel with lower fares, optimizing ferry capacity and boosting competitiveness. Additionally, the company has waived the length surcharge for camping vehicles over 6 meters during less busy times, such as evenings, nights, or early mornings, previously priced at EUR 30 per additional two metres.
“We’ve noticed campers shifting to early morning or evening departures,” Kyrø added. “Booking ahead is key, especially for Rostock-Gedser’s bi-hourly sailings. On Puttgarden-Rødby, a ferry is always ready, with around 60 daily departures.”
