MSC to position MERAVIGLIA in Hamburg in 2018
CruiseDuring a press event held by MSC Cruises’ CEO Pierfrancesco Vago on board the MSC SPLENDIDA in Hamburg, the company announced it will base the MSC MERAVIGLIA in Hamburg during the 2018 summer season.
In the course of the event, Vago stressed the importance of the German port to the whole MSC Group, handling not only their cruise ships, but also the company's large container vessels.
The exact routing is yet to be announced but it is assumed that both the MSC PREZIOSA (which will sail from Hamburg in 2017) and the MSC MERAVIGLIA will continue in the footsteps of the Northern European routes and schedules which are currently being served by the MSC SPLENDIDA.
MSC MERAVIGLIA is currently under construction at STX France in Saint Nazaire and will be delivered in May 2017. It is also possible that MSC Cruises with the MSC MERAVIGLIA could enter year-round cruising in Northern Europe in 2018, a market that is so far only catered for by Aida Cruises.
