Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s MANXMAN delivered
FerryIsle of Man Steam Packet Company’s new GBP 78 million ro-pax ferry MANXMAN has been delivered from South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard. The delivery voyage will take approximately 30 days, followed by a stop on the South Coast of England for final fittings.
MANXMAN will enter service on the Douglas-Heysham route, across the Irish Sea, and has been built as the larger replacement for BEN-MY-CHREE. It can carry 949 passengers compared to 630 for the latter.
It is designed by UK-based naval architects Houlder and measures 133m x 32m which is the maximum size to access the port of Heysham.
MANXMAN is also designed to operate on the IOMSPCo's seasonal services from Douglas to Belfast and Liverpool.
