Balearia and Fred. Olsen Express reinforces its route between the Canary Islands and Huelva this summer
FerryBalearia and Fred. Olsen Express reinforces, during the summer months, its maritime route between the Canary Islands and Huelva. Specifically, between 1 July and 30 September, there will be three to four weekly trips in each direction. This will allow the departures offered to double compared to the same period last year.
The route is operated by two ships: SICILIA, which has capacity for 1,000 passengers and 400 vehicles, as well as the MARIE CURIE, which can accommodate more than 800 passengers and 600 vehicles. This expansion of connections will allow us to respond to the high demand expected for the summer period, both for passengers and for the transport of road freight between the Peninsula and the Canary Islands.
In the words of Fred's fleet manager. Olsen Express, Juan Ignacio Liaño, "in January, thanks to the incorporation of a second ship for the route, the SICILIA ferry, we were able to serve all those customers who have given such a good reception to our connection with the Peninsula."
For his part, the general director of Baleària, Georges Bassoul, highlighted "the commitment to flexibility and connectivity, to strengthen the line and guarantee the supply and comfort of passengers on these dates of high demand."
From 1 July, departures will be offered from Huelva on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, all of them destined for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the exception of the Wednesday trip, which will only have a connection with Tenerife. For its part, departures from the islands will take place on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, with this last day including two trips from Tenerife.
Five years of strategic alliance to connect the Canary Islands and the Peninsula, through Huelva
The service between the Peninsula and the Canary Islands, operated by Baleària and Fred. Olsen Express has been showing this strategic alliance for the connection by sea between the islands and the Peninsula for more than five years. Since its inception, the connection has transported more than one million lane metres of cargo and more than 155,000 passengers between Huelva and the Canary Islands, consolidating a key route for the transport of goods. Among the services of the two ships that cover this route, cabins, restaurants, and pet services stand out.
