Godby Shipping Acquires TRANSPORTER From Eckerö Shipping
Ro-roEckerö Shipping Ab has sold its last ro-ro vessel, TRANSPORTER, to Godby Shipping. Built in 1991, TRANSPORTER offers a capacity of around 1,250 lane metres and is well suited for the transport of paper and a variety of rolling cargo, including trailers, mafis, lorries, and heavy machinery. The vessel’s existing crew will remain on board, maintaining service continuity for DFDS, the current customer.
Presently on time charter to DFDS for liner services between Fredrikstad and Halden in Norway, Zeebrugge in Belgium, and Immingham in the United Kingdom, the vessel will continue under the same arrangement until the end of December 2025. Handover of the vessel is scheduled to take place within the operational area between 15 October and 22 November 2025. The new owners intend to retain the name TRANSPORTER.
With this purchase, Godby Shipping’s operational fleet rises to eight vessels. Given the scarcity of vessels of this size, and the strength of the sector, Godby believe demand for smaller ro-ro units will remain strong in the future.
The rest of the Godby fleet is currently deployed as follows:
• MIMER– Midline – until December 2025
• MIDAS – CMA CGM – until December 2026 + option
• MISTRAL – Sea-Cargo – until November 2025
• AURORA – Peregar – until December 2025
• BALTIC BRIGHT – Holmen Paper – until December 2026
• LYSVIK SEAWAYS – DFDS – until December 2026 + options
• LYSBRIS SEAWAYS – DFDS – until December 2026 + options
