Famous Polar Explorers for Hurtigruten's new Ships
CruiseToday Hurtigruten announced that the two hybrid newbuildings will be named after famous Norwegian polar explorers: ROALD AMUNDSEN and FRIDTJOF NANSEN.
Almost 105 years ago Roald Amundsen became the first person in the world to plant the Norwegian flag on the South Pole. And 128 years ago Fridtjof Nansen skied across Greenland.
The ships will be built by Kleven and will be delivered in 2018 and 2019. There is an option for two more ships.
