CORSICA linea takes delivery of its second new LNG-powered vessel, CAPU ROSSU

FerryCORSICA linea celebrated on Thursday 26 March 2026 the official delivery ceremony of CAPU ROSSU from the CMI Jinling Weihai shipyard, its second new LNG-powered vessel, which will enter service on the Corsica route from June.

The arrival of the CAPU ROSSU is a key milestone in CORSICA linea’s decarbonisation strategy, which has set a target of reducing its CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030. This second LNG-powered vessel strengthens the company’s commitment to the progressive renewal of its fleet in order to reduce its environmental footprint.

This structured investment programme, worth more than EUR 350 million since 2016, forms part of CORSICA linea’s drive to create the first green maritime corridor between Corsica and mainland France. The ambition is to offer a reliable, high-quality, low-carbon transport solution for both freight and passengers in the near future.

Following the entry into service of A GALEOTTA in January 2023, this vessel will be the second RoPax ship powered by LNG to serve the Corsican network, further consolidating the deployment of a public maritime transport service that is increasingly environmentally responsible.

The arrival of a second new vessel in the year of CORSICA linea’s 10th anniversary symbolises the success of the company and the commitment of all our employees who keep the French flag alive in the Mediterranean,” declared Pierre-Antoine Villanova, Managing Director of CORSICA linea, at the end of the ceremony.
