Corsica Linea Becomes First to Use Shore Power in Sète Port
FerryOn 20 May 2025, Corsica Linea pioneered the use of the quay electrification system (CENAQ) at Sète’s commercial port for its Algeria routes, reinforcing its commitment to decarbonisation and improved air quality in Occitanie. The DANIELLE CASANOVA ferry eliminated emissions and noise during its stopover, with five ships now CENAQ-equipped, making Corsica Linea the Mediterranean’s most quay-connected operator, aiming for a 40% CO2 reduction by 2030.
Alongside CENAQ, the company is investing in the energy performance of its ships in Sète:
• Reduction of navigation speeds and adaptation of timetables;
• Optimization of propulsion (propeller shapes, bulbs, engines) and improvement of hulls;
• Integration of artificial intelligence-assisted driving tools;
• Development of the use of decarbonised fuels and new energy partnerships with the local ecosystem.
Since 2023, the company has doubled its Algeria routes, planning two weekly crossings to Algiers, Bejaia, and Skikda in 2025.
