Baleària transports over 8.3 million lane metres of cargo in 2025, cuts emissions per load unit by 12%
Spanish ferry operator Baleària transported 8,392,000 lane metres of goods in 2025, a 10% increase on the previous year. The figure was announced at Barcelona's International Logistics Exhibition (SIL), where the company presented its freight services.
Freight transport, which accounts for 36% of the company's turnover, remains one of the pillars of Baleària's activity, with the routes serving the Balearic Islands and Morocco carrying the most weight. Morocco has become a strategic hub, already accounting for 29% of total cargo volume, while the Balearic Islands, at 59%, remain the company's main market. The 8.4 million lane metres transported are equivalent to around 622,000 lorries.
On sustainability, Baleària reduced CO2e emissions per linear metre transported by 12%, attributed to improved fleet energy efficiency, the use of lower-impact fuels and operational optimisation. Maximiliano Bermejo said the company is incorporating solutions to advance towards a more efficient logistics model with lower environmental impact, in line with its decarbonisation roadmap.
The company also used the event to launch a new initiative: an online cargo-space sales service aimed at customers without pre-established tariff conditions on its routes to the Balearic Islands.
Baleària has further strengthened its position as a European maritime operator following the recent acquisition of Armas Trasmediterránea. Its annual freight traffic forecast stands at 11 million linear metres of cargo.
