Polferries to long-term charter a Visentini vessel

Polferries to long-term charter a Visentini vessel for a 10-year period with purchase option available after six years.
The LNG-ready vessel, which will be delivered to Polferries in the second half 2024, will have the following characteristics:
- 216m LOA
- 28m beam
- +3,000 lanemetres
- 1,000 passengers in 230 cabins.
The vessel is currently under construction at the Italian Visentini yard and will serve between Swinoujscie-Ystad for Polferries. It is a lengthened and slightly modified version of the A GALEOTTA currently being built for Corsica Linea at the same yard.

Hellenic Seaways’ three new high-speed passenger catamarans arrive in Greece

The three revolutionary carbon fibre high-speed passenger catamaran ferries ordered by Greece’s Attica Group to transform passengers’ travelling experience on the highly popular routes from Piraeus down the line to the various islands in the Argosaronic region, arrived in the main port of Piraeus on 1 August.
All three 150 passenger capacity vessels, built by Norway’s Brødrene Aa: AERO 1, 2 and 3, arrived as deck cargo onboard the heavy transport vessel ROLLDOCK SKY. The trio are currently lying alongside in the main harbour of Piraeus being readied to enter service with Attica subsidiary Hellenic Seaways, replacing the fleet of ageing Kometa-class of Soviet/Russian built FLYING DOLPHIN passenger hydrofoils dating from the 1970s and 1980s.

REGENT and Siemens collaborate for revolutionary zero-emission seaglider

Siemens Digital Industries Software announced that REGENT has adopted the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of cloud-based software and services to help pioneer a new category of vehicle called the seaglider. The seaglider is a high-speed zero emission vehicle that operates exclusively over the water to drastically reduce the time and cost of moving people and goods between coastal cities.

GLEN SANNOX returns to Port Glasgow

GLEN SANNOX has returned to Port Glasgow from a brief but essential stay at dry dock in Greenock.
The vessel - one of two dual-fuel ferries being built at Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) (FMPG) - has spent three weeks at Dales Marine for essential works on its propulsion systems, seals and bow doors. She was also given a fresh coat of paint. The dry dock period is a normal and scheduled part of the build programme.

Brittany Ferries’ new digital platform links holiday makers with local memory makers

Brittany Ferries has launched a website called Livelocal.fr. with its partner 321 Founded. The site promises to match holiday makers with local hosts who offer bespoke and authentic experiences in their destination. The move is part of Brittany Ferries’ diversification strategy and draws on the company’s mission to enrich regions and to reveal fabulous destinations to travellers.

Wärtsilä Voyage, part of the technology group Wärtsilä, announced that its Smart Panoramic Edge Camera System (SPECS) will be used by Brittany Ferries to improve the safety and efficiency of its passenger ferry operations. SPECS will be first installed onboard the SALAMANCA – the 214.5 metre, 1015 passenger ferry which started operations between Portsmouth and Bilbao in March 2022.

For Irish Ferries, higher bandwidth and always-on connectivity is critical in delivering a quality user experience for passengers and crew all year round. Irish company Voyager IP manages its KA VSAT service, so it recommended the Xiplink™ end-to-end WAN optimiser solution.
Operating profit (EBITDA) of USD 99 million (up 27.7% Q-o-Q), net profit of USD 53 million (up 49.2% Q-o-Q). Dividend of USD 15 million scheduled to be paid in September 2022. Volumes grew 0.3 million CBM (up 7.3% Q-o-Q) while net rate increasing to a new high level of USD 61.9 per CBM (up 8.4% Q-o-Q). The growth in volumes was mainly due to increased utilisation, while net rate improvement was a result of optimal cargo mix and continuous repricing in several markets.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Reports Second Quarter 2022 Financial Results
Revenue increased to USD 1.2 billion compared to USD 4.4 million in 2021 due to the resumption of cruise voyages. GAAP net loss was USD (509.3) million compared to net loss of USD (717.8) million in the prior year. The Company reported Adjusted Net Loss of USD (478.3) million in 2022. This compares to Adjusted Net Loss of USD (714.7) million in 2021.
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been selected to supply RoRo equipment for four RoRo vessels to be built by the Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd for H-Line Shipping, Korea.
The significant order was booked into Cargotec’s 2022 second quarter order intake. The vessels are scheduled to be delivered to the owner starting in Q2 2024 and are expected to be completed in Q2 2025.
AS Tallinna Sadam (Port of Tallinn) closes operations in Paljassaare harbour
Due to the limited business opportunities in Paljassaare, AS Tallinna Sadam (hereinafter: Tallinna Sadam) decided in 2017 to terminate operation and management of Paljassaare harbour. At the same time, Tallinna Sadam started the process of exiting the operation of the port and the gradual transfer of assets. During 2020, Tallinna Sadam sold the quays and other properties of the Paljassaare harbour, and in 2021 the utility networks and facilities and stopped providing network services in Paljassaare. As a result of a long process, the Transport Board satisfied the application of Tallinna Sadam and OÜ Hundipea and carried out the change of port authority, according to which OÜ Hundipea will be the port authority of Paljassaare harbour from 10.08.2022. Tallinna Sadam is no longer the port authority of the Paljassaare harbour and no longer provides port services there.
AS Tallinna Sadam (Port of Tallinn) financial results for 2022 Q2 and 6 months
In the second quarter, Tallinna Sadam Group's revenue, adjusted EBITDA and profit increased year-on-year. Group revenue amounted to EUR 30 million in the second quarter, increasing by 25% compared to the same period last year. The group's adjusted EBITDA in the second quarter was EUR 15 million (+38%) and the profit was EUR 5.1 million (+205%). In the half-year summary, the revenue was EUR 57 million (+16%), the adjusted EBITDA was EUR 16 million (+31%) and the profit was EUR 12 million (+44%).
ScottishPower vision for green hydrogen fuels hub at Port of Felixstowe

Baleària and OK Mobility come together to bring rental vehicles to the Balearic Islands
Baleària and OK Mobility have reached a collaboration agreement to facilitate the mobility of their customers this summer. In this way, the shipping company will offer free boarding of rental vehicles from the global mobility company on its routes to the Balearic Islands, both from the Peninsula and on inter-island connections.
