Tallink passengers will be able to take coronavirus antigen tests before travelling at newly opened Confido testing location at Terminal D, Port of Tallinn from Tuesday, 16 March 2021
From Tuesday, 16 March 2021, Confido will open a new coronavirus testing location at Terminal D, Port of Tallinn and will thus make it easier for passengers to obtain the necessary negative COVID test certificates, required for travelling to Finland since the end of February.
Passengers will be able to take the coronavirus antigen test at the new testing location and should allow at least half an hour before boarding to get the result and necessary certificate. Passengers wanting to use this service must book a testing slot in advance.
The new coronavirus antigen testing location is also open for those people not travelling. Booking a testing slot in advance is also required.
"We are pleased that our negotiations with several testing providers in Estonia have finally resulted in an agreement with Confido and testing opportunities will now also be available at the port, making the lives of many of our passengers easier at this difficult time. From the moment of introducing the new negative test result certificate requirement to our passengers when travelling to Finland, at the request of the Finnish health authority, the biggest problem for many of our passengers has been the lack of sufficient testing opportunities at a time when testing requirements have gone through the roof here in Estonia,“ Age Vanajuur, Tallink Grupp’s Head of Customer Experience, commented.
"Offering a testing opportunity at the port will make the currently challenging and often stressful process of travelling much more comfortable for those people who are allowed to travel and need to travel for work or family reasons. Any step that we are currently able to take to enhance safety, but at the same time also comfort for our passengers, is well worth the effort and is worth taking,“ Vanajuur added.
"We are happy to help make passengers lives easier by offering testing opportunities in Tallinn now also at the port, in addition to the airport and Confido clinics. At the port we will be offering the coronavirus antigen testing service, which are accepted by both Finland and Sweden for entering the countries. The antigen tests are performed by taking a nasal swab and the result will show whether the person has proteins characteristic of coronavirus in their sample or not, i.e. whether a person is contagious or not. The results of the test with the necessary certificate required for travelling can be obtained quickly – within 30 minutes,“ Liis Ader, Confido testing locations coordinator, said.
According to Ader, people wishing to take the test, must book a slot for the test in advance in order to avoid queues at the terminal. "There may be many people wishing to take the test shortly before vessel departure times. By booking a test slot in advance, passengers will be able to ensure that they will get the test done in time before the trip and that we are able to ensure safe distance-keeping and adherence to the 2+2m rule around the testing location. We are also reminding everyone coming for the test to ensure they wear face masks,“ Ader added.
