Stena Line resumes passenger traffic to Latvia
Due to restrictions due to COVID-19, the ferry company Stena Line has since mid-March only been allowed to transport goods and passengers with a special permit on board the ferries between Sweden and Latvia. Following new positive information from the Latvian authorities, regular passenger traffic on Stena Line's Nynäshamn-Ventspils ferry line is now resumed.
Stena Line has previously resumed regular passenger traffic to Denmark, Germany and Poland during the spring and summer. All ferries on the company's 18 ferry lines in Europe sail with a limited number of passengers on board to enable social distancing and a number of new safety routines have been introduced on board the ferries and in the terminals. Among the most important safety routines are:
Social distancing on board is made possible by a limited number of passengers per departure and well marked both in terminals and on board the ships.
Only fresh sea air that is not circulated in the ventilation systems is used on board.
New powerful steam machines are used to clean and disinfect cabins and public areas on board the ferries.
Enhanced cleaning and disinfection of so-called "hand contact hot spots", such as handles, handrails, buttons and screens on board and in terminals.
The self-service at the well-known buffets on board is replaced by plate service.
