ScandiNAOS AB signed an MoU with Deccan Water Treatment Private Limited to provide methanol powered engines for marine and land applications
The Swedish ship design company ScandiNAOS AB who has been spear heading the introduction of methanol as marine fuel, has signed and memorandum of understanding, MoU with the Indian company, Deccan Water Treatment Private Limited to establish a joint venture company.
The objective of the JV Deccan ScandiNAOS India Ltd is to provide methanol powered engines for both marine and land applications, not only for the Indian market but for, the whole Asian, Australian and African markets.
On Tuesday the 21st of September there was a signing ceremony where the MoU was signed between the Chairman & Director of Deccan Water Treatment Mr Anirban Sarkar and the managing director of ScandiNAOS AB Mr Bengt Ramne. The Master of ceremony was Dr Vijay Kumar Saraswat member of Nitin Aayog which is a public policy think tank of the Government of India.
The establishment of Deccan ScandiNAOS India Ltd is supported by the government of India as a part of the 'Methanol Economy' program. The program is aimed at reducing India's oil import bill, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and converting coal reserves and municipal solid waste into methanol.
