Charge your electric car at Scandlines’ BorderShops
Now you no longer need to worry about empty batteries when you travel between Germany and Denmark. With two fast charging stations at BorderShop Puttgarden and BorderShop Rostock you can quickly charge your car and continue your journey. Scandlines has installed the charging stations in collaboration with the energy company E.ON.
”Thinking of the environment is part of the Scandlines agenda – also when it comes to providing electricity for electric cars. We have been operating hybrid ferries on our routes between Germany and Denmark since 2013, and it is part of our green vision to find all the areas where we can make changes that have a positive effect on the environment,” says Scandlines’ CEO Søren Poulsgaard Jensen.
”Our ambition is to make it easy for electric car drivers to drive across cities and national borders. Therefore I am pleased – in collaboration with Scandlines – to make it easier to cross the German border and thus take one more step towards a green economy,” explains Head of eMobility at E.ON Denmark and Norway Bertil Hammerby. He points out that E.ON has more than 1,350 public charging stations in Denmark. Furthermore, E.ON plans to extend a network of ultra fast charging stations through Germany and the rest of Europe.
Each of the fast charging stations at Scandlines’ BorderShops has space for two electric cars. The fast chargers are partly supported by the EU-project GREAT, in which E.ON is a partner. One of the project’s goal is to create a green transportation corridor between Scandinavia and Germany. All electric cars can use the charging stations.
Facts about E.ON’s fast chargers:
- Have three connectors: CCS, Mennekes type II and CHAdeMO
- Have a capacity of 43 kW AC or 50 kW DC (depending on car type)
- Can charge two cars simultaneously (one AC and one DC)
- Charge the battery up to 80 percent in 20 to 30 minutes (depending on battery size)
- All electricity in E.ON’s public charging station network is produced by renewable energy.
