Actemium OPS reduces emissions in Swedish ports corresponding to 100,000 cars
At SVT Nyheter, this week (v.19 2019), you can read about the high ship emissions between Swedish ports. Actemium OPS (Onshore Power Supply) has built dozens of electricity-based land connections, both in Sweden and abroad that contribute to reducing emissions. Among other facilities are facilities in Visby, Gothenburg, Trelleborg, Kristiansand and Oslo harbor in Norway, Nynäshamn and Dunkerque.
Since 2010, there is an international standard, and for ports that apply the solution, it pays for itself after just a few years. Actemium's commissioned PPP facilities today correspond to an emission reduction corresponding to over 100,000 cars. After delivery, the port receives a mobile container containing all the technology for easily frequency converting the electricity to the vessels' systems. The container can easily be transported in and between ports if the conditions change.
Ingemar Gustavsson, head of OPS Actemium, talks about the growing interest
- OPS is a complete land connection system to enable the future's environmentally friendly shipping, and the interest is constantly growing since we started operations in 2010. In 2012 we built the world's largest PPP facility in Ystad harbor. We are proud to promote the environment through our flexible solution that we build in our workshop in Stora Höga, just south of Stenungsund.
The system can be in operation anywhere in the world one week after delivery, and the Actemium then provides service, maintenance and monitoring.
