Unknown explosion delays departure of JEAN NICOLI (update)
Corsica Linea's ro-pax ferry JEAN NICOLI has been evacuated this morning at 9 am, while the ship was alongside in the port of Marseille. The reason was an unknown explosion, so far NOT linked to any form of terrorism. Nobody understands what happened and where it came from, outside or inside the ship.
Divers did not find any damage.
The investigation has led to the conclusion that some kind of ammunition from WWII has exploded on the sea bed. There was no damage to the ship's hull.
She has been able to sail to Sardegna.
