NFI’s Norwegian ferry operator posted a loss in 2025

FinanceTorghatten AS, the major Norwegian domestic ferry operator owned by NFI (Nordic Ferry Infrastructure) together with its Danish counterpart Molslinjen A/S, recorded a decline in its net result in 2025. The company, which has more than 1,600 employees and operates a mixed fleet of 74 conventional and high-speed ferries across 47 routes, posted a net loss of NOK 89.9 million, compared with a profit of NOK 20.2 million the previous year.

The operating loss amounted to NOK 65.1 million, compared with an operating loss of NOK 15.2 million in 2024. According to its annual accounts, Torghatten AS had equity of NOK 6.9 billion at the beginning of the year, while its debt amounted to NOK 267.2 million.

As of late August 2026, Torghatten has a newbuilding programme comprising 10 conventional ferries scheduled for delivery by the third quarter of 2028.

NFI’s Danish company, Molslinjen, reported EBITDA of DKK 728 million (NOK 1.1 billion) for 2025. Molslinjen currently has three high-speed RoPax ferries on order. All the newbuildings due to join NFI’s companies will be fully electric.
