Molslinjen delivered strong financial results for 2025

FinanceDenmark’s largest ferry operator Molslinjen A/S, which is part of Oslo-based Nordic Ferry Infrastructure Holding AS, delivered a strong financial performance in 2025. Revenue in 2025 was a total of DKK 2.286 million, representing an increase of DKK 36 million compared to 2024. The income statement shows that earnings before interests and depreciation (EBITDA) were DKK 728 million which is an increase of DKK 49 million from 2024 to 2025.

Molslinjen’s ferry services in the Kattegat corridor in 2025, based solely on high-speed ferries, saw a positive development in 2025 despite 3,9% fewer departures in the year. Overall, the number of passengers in 2025 was 0,8% higher compared to 2024, the number of cars in 2025 was 2,0% up and the number of trucks was down with 5,5%.

The ferry services in the Bornholm corridor, consisting of the routes Rønne-Ystad, Rønne-Køge and Rønne-Sassnitz, saw positive development in 2025 despite 1,9% fewer departures in the year. Overall, the number of passengers in 2025 was 1,5% higher compared to 2024, the number of cars in 2025 was 3,2% up and the number of trucks was up with 4,4%.

The ferry services in the West corridor, consisting of the four routes Spodsbjerg-Taars, Kalundborg-Ballen, Bøjden-Fynshav and Esbjerg-Fanø all delivered increases in car traffic during 2025. Fanølinjen increased with 4,4%. Langelandslinjen was 0,7% up, Alslinjen up with 2,0%, while Samsølinjen increased with 1,2%. Overall, the number of passengers in 2025 was 1,3% higher compared to 2024 and the number of trucks was down with 1,2% driven by Langelandslinjen.

According to the company’s annual report, the result for 2025 shows Molslinjen's robustness with continuing high oil prices and even higher CO2 taxes, which together with the liquidity position per 31.12.2025 will ensure the company's future operations.

Molslinjen’s management has therefor a positive outlook on trading for the coming year. Improved mobility in Denmark and the surrounding region is expected to lead to increased traffic volumes across the route network combined with the effects of bigger capacity on Als and Samsø, which both received newbuildings in 2025, plus increased new initiatives on Kattegat. The company therefore expects an improved result for 2026 compared to 2025. Revenue is expected to be DKK 2,300 – 2,500 million and EBITDA is expected to be DKK 700 – 800 million.
