Marseille–Tanger route downgraded to seasonal service
FerryLa Méridionale has announced that its route between Marseille and Tanger will be suspended from 15 September this year. The French ferry operator has operated the route year-round for the past five years, since May 2025 using the former Brittany Ferries vessel NORMANDIE, which was renamed MASSALIA following its acquisition.
According to the media outlet Le Marin, the route has proved too seasonal for year-round operation, primarily because of the annual Operation Marhaba, during which mainly Moroccans living in Europe visit their country of origin for their summer holidays between 15 June and 15 September. La Méridionale told the same publication that the route will resume on 15 June next year.
