Hamburg to extend Steinwerder cruise terminal
The city of Hamburg plans to extend the new cruise terminal at Steinwerder in order to accommodate the latest generation of 6,000 pax cruise ships for Aida Cruises and Costa.
These ships are currently under construction for a delivery in 2019-2020. The Cruise Center Steinwerder at Kronprinzkai was opened in 2015, but can only handle 4,000 passengers at a time.
Furthermore, the HafenCity terminal at Hamburg-Grasbrook will be rebuilt as from later this year and most likely make any cruise ship calls impossible there until a new permanent terminal building is operable.
