Grandi Navi Veloci calling back at Malta again
MSC Aponte Group continues betting on its ferry branch operated by Genoa-based subsidiary GNV Grandi Navi Veloci which strengthens its links to Sicily by launching a new international ro-ro line to Malta, a country they already called at in past years and then abandoned in 2012.
GNV announced that, as from next October, a new ro-pax service connecting Genoa, Civitavecchia and Palermo to Marsaxlokk port will start operating.
No details were provided about the ship nor regarding the rotation, that will presumably also encompass Malta within two ro-ro services already operated by GNV, namely the Genoa-Palermo and Civitavecchia-Palermo.
On the Genoa-Palermo line GNV deployed an additional unit, the ro-ro STENA NORDICA, chartered from Stena Line; also the link between Civitavecchia and Palermo was doubled and on the Sicilian market the capacity has grown to 40 weekly departures with 60,000 lane metres.
The cargo division recorded 1.8 million lane metres transported in 2015, representing GNV's core business.
