The trimaran was built by the Australian shipyard Austal and has operated on the southern routes of England, under the Condor Ferries banner. It is currently in the French port of Le Havre and in the coming days it will travel to Algeciras, where different fine-tuning works will be carried out and the interior rooms will be completely remodelled to adapt it to the company's quality standards. Thus, it is expected that the new vessel can be incorporated into the company's commercial operations this summer.

A tribute to a pioneering scientist in oceanography
Baleària will baptize this ship with the name of PEPITA CASTELLVI, in tribute to the legacy of the Spanish oceanographer who dedicated her career to the study of marine ecosystems, scientific dissemination and environmental awareness. Castellví played a fundamental role in the installation of the first Spanish base in Antarctica, which he directed between 1989 and 1993.

With this recognition, Baleària will have its ninth vessel named after a pioneering woman in the scientific field and continues its involvement in making female role models in science and technology visible, in line with corporate values and with the promotion of women in STEM careers where they are underrepresented.
