Tallink offers unique one-off sailing on Helsinki-Saaremaa-Helsinki route on 27-29 July 2020
Tallink Grupp has announced that it is giving travellers the unique opportunity to sail directly to Saaremaa from Helsinki this summer with one special return voyage to the island on the Helsinki-Saaremaa-Helsinki route on 27-29 July 2020.
The special voyage will be operated with the company’s vessel VICTORIA I, which is one of the few of the company’s passengers vessels small enough to dock at the Saaremaa deep harbour, located in Ninase village, Mustjala county.
The timetable for the 27 July special cruise to Saaremaa is the following:
15.30 Departure from Helsinki West Terminal
9.00 Arrival in Saaremaa the following morning
18.00 Departure from Saaremaa
13.15 Arrival in Helsinki West Terminal
„Saaremaa residents and authorities have been asking us for a number of years – when will one of Tallink’s ferries start operating also to Saaremaa, perhaps en route to Stockholm. So, although not a regular new route and not en route to Stockholm this time, we are finally responding to their request and organising a special trip for Finnish customers to one of the most fabulous islands in the Baltic sea region,“ Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp, said.
„Saaremaa island has had a tough time recently, tougher than the rest of Estonia, so I am glad that we can play a small part in helping the island recover this summer and enable many Finns to sail there directly for a day’s exploration or why not also for a longer holiday,“ Nõgene commented.
„We also know that many Finnish citizens have summer cottages on Saaremaa and Saaremaa is very popular among Finns for short visits. Let the popular song „Saaremaa walz“ sound this time on a direct sailing from Helsinki to Saaremaa,“ Nõgene concluded.
„We are delighted that Tallink created a new opportunity for our Finnish friends to visit Saaremaa. This spring set unexpected restrictions for travelling and this is why we are glad that people can come to our beautiful island again,” Kristiina Maripuu, Deputy Mayor of Saaremaa, said.
„The Finnish media showed a great and friendly interest in Saaremaa this spring and among other topics we always said that we look forward to welcoming Finns on Saaremaa, a paradise over the sea. Now it is again possible and Tallink makes it even more exclusive,” Maripuu commented.
The vessel will only be able to take foot passengers on this cruise due to restrictions of the Saaremaa harbour.
Ticket sales for the Saaremaa day cruise will start today, 17 June 2020 and the tickets will be available on the company’s websites www.tallink.ee and www.tallinksilja.fi
