Tallink Grupp completes changes to Management Board

Tallink Grupp has this morning/today announced to the stock exchange that it has made further changes to the membership of the group’s Management Board. Based on the recommendations from the Chairman of the Management Board of Tallink Grupp, Mr Paavo Nõgene, the Supervisory Board of the group appointed Mrs Piret Mürk-Dubout to the Management Board with effect from 15 April 2019. The Supervisory Board additionally recalled Mr Andres Hunt from the Management Board following his resignation. The mandate of Mr Hunt concludes on 26 February 2019.

From 15 April, the Management Board of Tallink Grupp will operate with five members under the leadership of Mr Paavo Nõgene and will include Mr Lembit Kitter, Mrs Kadri Land, Mr Harri Hanschmidt and Mrs Piret Mürk-Dubout.

Piret Mürk-Dubout has significant international experience in sales and marketing and corporate management. She joins Tallink Grupp from Tallinn Airport where she has held the position of Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board since 2016. There she was responsible for significantly increasing the rate of growth of the business, and for Tallinn Airport winning Awards for ‘Best European Airport’ and ‘Best Business Lounge’ and a Gold Award for Corporate Responsibility.

Prior to this Mrs Mürk-Dubout worked in senior marketing and management positions with Telia Group. She was Senior Vice President at Telia Sonera Estonia Ltd between 2014 and 2016, where her team won the Best Marketing Team in Estonia Award. Before that she was based in Stockholm, as Vice President, Head of Group Brands and Corporate Marketing at Telia Sonera AB, Sweden between 2013 and 2014 were she was responsible for branding and corporate marketing strategy across 18 countries. Between 2010 and 2013 she was Vice President, Head of Commercial Development at the same company, responsible for Baltic and Nordic countries. Between 2007 and 2011 Mrs Mürk-Dubout worked as Head of Strategy at Estonian Telecom Ltd, between 2008 and 2010 she was also Chairman of Serenada Investment OÜ. Between 2004 and 2011 she held the position of Member of the Board, Marketing Director at leading Estonian mobile operator EMT Ltd, and before that, from 1999 to 2004 she was the Communications Director at the leading internet and phone services operator Elion Ltd where she led the award-winning project to rebrand Eesti Telefon to Elion.  Mrs Mürk-Dubout is also a regular speaker at international conferences on topics such as the implications of Artifical Intelligence, the future of work, and the integration of Estonia into the New Nordics.

Mrs Mürk-Dubout previously held international roles in Communications and Television - as the Head of External and Internal Communications at the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a Senior Project Manager at renowned PR company Hill & Knowlton in Estonia and Finland, as the business news editor and presenter at RTV Estonia, as the CNN world news correspondent at CNN International in the United States, and as the social and political news editor at Estonian National Broadcasting (ERR).

Mrs Mürk-Dubout holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) qualification from the Estonian Business School, a Diploma in Jurisprudence from the University of Tartu and a Master’s degree in Philosophy and Media & Communications from the University of Tartu.

In her new role as Tallink Grupp Management Board Member, Mrs Mürk-Dubout will assume responsibility for the following group business areas: Group Sales & Marketing, Corporate Brand, Tallink Duty Free, On Board services and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Piret has acquired a multitude of experiences from the Estonian telecommunications sector, but in addition to her significant experience in Estonia, she has also worked as the Vice President of telecommunications giant Telia in Sweden, being accountable for the strategic business activities of 18 countries,“ Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp said.

„I am convinced Piret will bring fresh ideas, knowledge and energy into Tallink Grupp and her areas of responsibility will be those where she has a proven track record and which are her greatest strengths,“ Nõgene added.  

„Andres Hunt has decided to explore new opportunities outside Tallink Grupp after a considerable time with the company.  The Management Board of Tallink Grupp and the whole Tallink family wish Andres all the very best for the future and thank him for a significant contribution to the company during his time here,“ Nõgene concluded.

The mandate of Mr Andres Hunt concludes on 26 February. The mandate of Mrs Mürk-Dubout  begins on 15 April 2019 and lasts for a period of three years.  Mrs Mürk-Dubout does not hold any shares of AS Tallink Grupp.
