OSK behind the concept for TT-Line’s new Green Ship

The concept design for TT-Line’s new dual fuel RoPax ferry has contributions from sister companies OSK-ShipTech and Steen Friis Design – both part of Danish marine consultants OSK Group.

With a particular emphasis on flexibility and fast turn-around in ports, OSK-ShipTech has assisted TT-Line with the concept design for their new Green Ship. The firm contract with Chinese yard Jinling Shipyard for a 230 m RoPax newbuilding also includes an option for a sister ship.

"We are proud to contribute to TT-Line's fleet development and in addition to developing the concept for this new Green Ship we have been responsible for the contract design as well as basic design," says Anders Ørgård, CCO of OSK Group.

A five-man marine engineering delegation from Jinling Shipyard and representatives of TT-Line are currently visiting OSK-ShipTech's premises in Copenhagen fine-tuning the ferry's design. When complete, the 230 m RoPax with a capacity of 200-plus trucks and 800 passengers will be the most environmentally friendly RoPax ferry in its operating area with an expected 50% emission reduction compared to the previous RoPax generation.

In addition to fuel efficiency, emission reduction, and fast turn-around in ports, emphasis has been put on passenger comfort and further development of the modern sea travel experience. Ship interior designers Steen Friis Design has contributed to the tender interior concept.

Anders Ørgård continues: "This is a prime example of synergy in action and the very reason OSK-ShipTech bought Steen Friis Design back in 2016. With this setup, we can provide our clients with full-line in-house engineering and design solutions – and provide the full integration of ship design with focus on on-board spending and on-board flow leading to enhanced passenger experiences."

Expected delivery of the new Green Ship is during the course of 2022.
