Key EU funding instrument recommends co-financing expansion at Port of Ystad
A key EU funding instrument to support an efficient interconnected Trans-European Network in the field of transport, Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), recommends co-financing new initiatives at Port of Ystad. CEF recommends granting Port of Ystad and two other projects a total of 34 million euro.
One of CEF’s core goals is to make cross-border travelling easier and more sustainable. This is why the fund recommends co-financing a cargo capacity upgrade and LNG bunkering to strengthen the maritime link between Ystad and Swinoujscie. This plan includes the building of two new ferry berths at Port of Ystad which will allow the Port to receive more environmentally friendly vessels using more environmentally friendly fuel.
The member countries of the fund’s transport committee considered the Commission’s proposal for the allocation of funds on the 27thof September. The final decision is taken by the Commission after the European Parliament have had chance to comment on the recommendations.
