EQT Infrastructure now owns Molslinjen
Following the approval of the competition authorities in the EU, EQT Infrastructure is now the formal owner of Molslinjen. At the same time, Danske Sampension will be a new minority investor in Molslinjen. In addition, experienced industry experts join the company's board.
EQT Infrastructure now owns Molslinjen, which at the end of 2020 took a completely new ferry terminal in Aarhus into use.
In December 2020, Polaris announced a sale of the Mols line to Swedish EQT Infrastructure. That trade has now been formally approved and completed at the so-called closing. This means that Polaris has now handed over the business to the new owners.
The new ownership has got off to a good start with an investment from Denmark's third largest pension company, Sampension.
Closing also means that today there has been an extraordinary general meeting in Molslinjen, where a new board has been elected for Denmark's largest domestic ferry company.
The new chairman of the board of Molslinjen will be Niels Smedegaard. He has a past as CEO of DFDS, which he left in 2019. Today he sits on a number of boards - among other things, he is chairman of the board of the airline Norwegian.
Former CEO of TV 2 / Denmark, Merete Eldrup will also be part of the new board of Molslinjen. She left TV 2 in 2019 in favor of a career as a professional board member.
"We look forward to the collaboration with many new competencies in the new Board of Directors, and we are pleased that with the combination of EQT Infrastructure and Danish pension funds we get a strong starting point for an exciting future for Molslinjen", says Carsten Jensen, CEO of Molslinjen.
Daniel Pérez, Partner at EQT Infrastructure says:
“EQT Infrastructure is pleased to welcome Sampension as a new minority investor in Molslinjen. They can contribute an important local perspective. The combined experience of the newly appointed board members will ensure Molslinjen's continued expertise in the ferry and transport segments ”.
Henrik Olejasz Larsen, Investment Director at Sampension, adds:
“Molslinjen is undergoing an exciting transformation, which is based on ambitious plans, among other things when it comes to sustainability. We want to be a part of that ”.
