AS Tallinna Sadam 2018 Q4 and full year passenger and cargo flows
In 2018 Q4 5.0 million tonnes of cargo and 2.3 million passengers passed through the harbours of Tallinna Sadam. Compared to the same period of previous year, the cargo volume increased 2.0%, mainly due to liquid bulk. The growth of the number of passengers decreased by 1.0%. The number of ship calls grew by 4.8% to 1841 calls.
In 2018, the annual cargo volume of Tallinna Sadam totaled 20.6 million tonnes, increasing by 7.4% compared to the previous year, mainly due to liquid bulk and ro-ro. The number of passengers increased by 0.6% year-on-year, reaching an all-time record of 10.6 million passengers. The growth was driven by cruise, the number of passengers on Tallinn-Helsinki route remained at the same level as in the previous year.
According to Valdo Kalm, Chairman of the Management Board of Tallinna Sadam, the result of 2018 is satisfying, as the company managed to maintain and even increase cargo volumes in a difficult competitive situation. "For the number of passengers, we reached a record for the 11th year in a row," Kalm noted.
