Ukrainian military unit reports further attacks on Russian Kerch ferries

FerryFerry capacity across the Kerch Strait between Russia and the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula has fallen to around 25% of its original level following further Ukrainian attacks. This was reported by the Ukrainian drone unit USF Unit 414 “Magyar’s Birds” on social media.

As reported in Shippax Info in April 2026, the 1984-built SLAVYANIN, with a capacity of 634 lane/track metres, and the 1979-built AVANGARD, with a capacity of 560 lane/track metres, were damaged in Ukrainian attacks in March.

The drone unit now reports that the 2010-built, 2,734 GT double-ended ferry LAVRENTIY; the 2009-built, 1,353 GT double-ended ferry PANAGIA; the 1,028 GT ferry YEYSK, built in 1988; the ferry MARIYA; and the 1980-built, 1,600-lane metre RoRo SKS ONE - all reportedly deployed in the Kerch Strait - were completely or partially destroyed in a series of drone attacks during July.

According to USF Unit 414 “Magyar’s Birds”, some of the damaged vessels remain in service as barges towed by tugboats. The Russian-occupied, since 2014, Crimean Peninsula is also connected to Russia by a Russian-built bridge carrying both road and rail traffic. The bridge remains operational despite several Ukrainian attacks.
