TT-Line sign bio-LNG supply agreement with EnviTec Biogas
FerryA successful trial bunkering of 40 tonnes of bio-LNG from EnviTec Biogas AG has been completed for TT-Line’s PETER PAN in Travemünde, marking a joint step toward cleaner logistics powered by renewable biogas.
“We are delighted to supply TT-Line’s RoPax ferries with our renewable fuel bio-LNG,” said Markus Pille, Managing Director of EnviTec Energy GmbH & Co. KG. “This cooperation supports the transition to sustainable maritime transport.”
TT-Line CFO Torben Nikolay added: “Our PETER PAN, together with her sister ship NILS HOLGERSSON, is the largest LNG-powered RoPax ferry in the world. These vessels go beyond compliance—they represent our commitment to a sustainable future. After several successful bio-LNG bunkerings by barge this year, we are pleased to partner with EnviTec Biogas for flexible truck-based bunkering in Germany.”
EnviTec Biogas manufactures bio-LNG from organic waste materials such as slurry, poultry manure, food waste, and agricultural residues. The biogas is upgraded to biomethane through the company’s EnviThan technology and then liquefied into bio-LNG. Production is supported by EnviTec’s BioEnergie Park Güstrow—the largest integrated bio-LNG facility in Germany—which has enabled the company to operate as an independent supplier of carbon-neutral fuel since 2023.
