Torghatten Nord sends 47-year-old ferry for scrapping
FerryNorwegian ferry operator Torghatten Nord has sold the 1979-built HARAM for scrapping.
In recent years, HARAM has served as a reserve ferry, although its most recent regular assignment was on the triangular Austnes–Kjerstad–Skjeltene route in the Møre og Romsdal region near Ålesund.
The 769 GT HARAM, delivered by Båtservice Verft in Mandal, has been sold to Norwegian ship recycling company Fosen Gjenvinning. According to the Shippax Database, only eight Norwegian-owned ferries of more than 999 GT currently in service date from the 1970s, representing around 5% of the fleet.
