Silverstream celebrates one year of in-service testing of engine-supported air lubrication solution in collaboration with Everllence
Silverstream has successfully completed one year of in-service testing for an innovative engine-supported air lubrication solution, confirming the new system is ready for adoption at scale. Developed and tested over several years, this ground-breaking configuration of the Silverstream® air lubrication system benefits from integrating with the main engine’s scavenge air system.
The solution builds on Silverstream's established air lubrication technology and Everllence's world-class two-stroke engines expertise.
Bjarne Foldager – Head of Two-Stroke Business, Everllence – said: "The maritime energy transition must begin with reducing energy demand. Solutions that improve efficiency today will retain their value under any credible future framework. Efficiency improvements are therefore not an alternative to the transition of fuel but a prerequisite for making it feasible."
Commenting on the announcement, Noah Silberschmidt, Founder & CEO, Silverstream, said: "At a time when global shipping is looking at practical ways to save fuel, we are proud to have developed a solution that connects our technology to the heart of the ship, its main engine, creating a synergy that further improves fuel efficiency.
"Silverstream's air lubrication technology is already delivering proven fuel and emissions savings across the global fleet, and this milestone signals the readiness of a novel engine supported configuration to deliver at scale."
Silverstream's collaborative journey with Everllence began in 2021, with the successful completion of a proof-of-concept installation. Currently, the system has completed one year of in-service operation with rigorous and high-quality validation of fuel savings. In addition, a third vessel is demonstrating savings under commercial operating conditions.
As part of the partnership, Silverstream remains responsible for its air lubrication solution and acts as the primary customer facing interface for owners, operators, and shipyards, whilst Everllence provides the two stroke engine expertise.
