Royal Caribbean firms up order for fifth Icon Class ship at Meyer Turku and adds Icon 7 as option

CruiseRoyal Caribbean Group and Meyer Turku have signed a long-term framework agreement securing the right for Royal Caribbean to build vessels at the Turku shipyard through 2036. The agreement confirms the order of Icon 5 and includes options for Icon 6 and Icon 7, ensuring the continuation of the Icon Class series.

“With the framework agreement now signed, we announce our common plan for the next decade in cooperation with Royal Caribbean Group and other key partners to build more Icon Class ships and drive the future of shipbuilding over the next decade. I am extremely proud of the recognition that these orders bring to the skilled personnel at Meyer Turku and to the Finnish maritime industry expertise,” says Meyer Turku CEO Casimir Lindholm.

The deal extends a partnership that has already produced ICON OF THE SEAS and STAR OF THE SEAS, with LEGEND OF THE SEAS scheduled for delivery next year. HERO OF THE SEAS is currently under construction for 2027, followed by Icon 5 in 2028.
