Öresundslinjen Boosts Passenger Numbers by 2% in Strong 2025 Start
FerryÖresundslinjen’s ferries between Helsingborg and Helsingør have had a strong and busy first half of 2025. More travellers mean that the total number of passengers continues to grow on the Öresund ferries. Öresundslinjen was formed when Molslinjen acquired ForSea two years ago, and from the outset, it was a desire of the new owners to develop the popular and well-visited ferry line between Helsingborg and Helsingør.
“Now we can conclude that our efforts are starting to bear fruit,” says Molslinjen’s managing director, Kristian Durhuus. A summary after June shows that the desire to cross the Öresund with Öresundslinjen’s four ferries is growing in the first half of the year. The number of passengers increased by approximately two percent compared to 2024.
This means that the ferries had a total of 2,770,079 passengers in the first six months of the year, compared to 2,738,880 passengers in the same period in 2024. In 2024, the number of passengers increased compared to 2023 – and with the fine results in the first half of this year, there is also good hope for growth in passenger numbers for the second year in a row.
“We have digitised and created a simpler ticket structure, refurbished our ferries, and introduced entirely new restaurant concepts – our satisfied travellers can attest to this,” says Kristian Durhuus, who would also like to see the number of cars increase a bit more. “We’re a few hundred cars short, so it was a close call that determined whether we could also see growth for cars in the first half of the year,” notes Kristian Durhuus.
