MERCANDIA IV
Øresund ferry to Alslinjen
FerryTwo delayed electric ferries are forcing Molslinjen to switch to several ferries to make the summer run smoothly on the Alslinjen. The Alslinjen will be reinforced in May with the Øresund ferry, MERCANDIA IV, which, together with the ferry FRIGG, will ensure hourly service between Bøjden and Fynshav.
Molslinjen's two electric ferries to the Alslinjen and to the Samsølinjen are delayed from the shipyard in Turkey.
The delay now sends Molslinjen into a ferry reshuffle, which will make the start of the summer coherent on the two routes. This means that Alslinjen must wait to get its electric ferry, and that Samsølinjen will get Alslinjen's electric ferry to start.
In return, MERCANDIA IV from the Øresund Line comes to the rescue. Starting on May 23, MERCANDIA IV, together with the ferry FRIGG, will ensure hourly service between Bøjden and Fynshav.
"It is very regrettable that our electric ferries are delayed. On the other hand, it is good that the size of the shipping company gives us the opportunity to move our ferries around and help the different routes in case of problems," says Molslinjen's CEO Kristian Durhuus.
The plan is for MERCANDIA lV to sail on the route from May 23 until and including August 31, 2025. After that, FRIGG will handle the September sailings itself until the electric ferry NERTHUS takes over operations on the route on October 1, 2025.
