NEOLINER ORIGIN on coffee charter with Café William

Ro-roThe sail-powered 13,278 GT RoRo NEOLINER ORIGIN has taken a short break from its transatlantic service to transport a load of coffee for Canadian specialist, Café William. The vessel loaded over 1,000t of organic Fairtrade green coffee in Santa Marta, Colombia and Puerto Cortés in Honduras.

The vessel will sail to Montreal in Canada where the cargo will be unloaded. It will then rejoin its regular sailings from Baltimore and Halifax to St Nazaire-Montoir in France. This is the fourth wind-powered shipment initiated by Café William but it is the largest, with more than 60 containers used for the transportation.

On 27 June, on a recent transatlantic voyage from Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon to Montoir, the NEOLINER ORIGIN's 1,050 m² SolidSail forward mainsail folding panels were badly damaged, falling onto the boom and deck. The vessel was diverted to Lorient, where several panels had to be replaced, causing unexpected delays.
