NAPA launches digital checklist tool for onboard operations
NAPA has launched NAPA Checklist, a new digital tool that replaces paper and static PDF checklists with a guided, step-by-step workflow for onboard operations.
The product was co-developed with HX Expeditions and is being rolled out across the operator's expedition cruise fleet. Three further operators are already using the system, with one having run it on board for over a year and another having deployed it across nearly its entire fleet.
NAPA Checklist guides crew through each procedure in sequence and automatically records every action with a timestamp and the name of the person completing it. Completed tasks feed directly into NAPA Logbook, removing duplicate data entry. Through NAPA Fleet Intelligence, shore teams can publish updated checklist templates to individual vessels or an entire fleet within minutes and monitor completion status in real time.
The product consists of two components: the NAPA Checklist App, a mobile-first interface used on board, and the NAPA Checklist Editor, hosted within NAPA Fleet Intelligence, where shore-based safety and compliance teams create and update templates. It can be configured for checklists mandated under the ISM Code and SOLAS, as well as for an operator's internal Safety Management System.
Vsevolod Pashkov, Maritime Compliance Manager and CSO at HX Expeditions, said the operator expects the tool to bring greater consistency and efficiency to daily operations, reduce duplicate administrative work, and improve real-time information flow between ship and shore.
NAPA Checklist forms part of the company's NAPA Safety Solutions suite, alongside NAPA Stability, NAPA Emergency Computer, NAPA Logbook and NAPA Fleet Intelligence, and has been developed with officers and crew from cruise and expedition operators since autumn 2024.
