Moeve and Grupo Armas Trasmediterránea Sign Landmark Deal to Supply 40,000 Tonnes of 2G Marine Biofuels in Canary Islands
Moeve has signed a strategic agreement with Grupo Armas Trasmediterránea to supply 40,000 tonnes of 2G marine biofuels in the Canary Islands through December 2025, with potential extension into 2026.
Sergio Vélez, CEO of Armas Trasmediterránea, highlighted the agreement as a milestone in sustainable shipping, building on prior efforts like route optimisation and biofuel adoption to protect the marine environment. Both companies engaged with Autoridades Portuarias, with Beatriz Calzada of Las Palmas and Pedro Suárez of Santa Cruz de Tenerife emphasising the deal’s alignment with green fuel strategies and sustainable, competitive port operations.
Produced at Moeve’s San Roque and La Rábida Energy Parks, these second-generation biofuels cut CO2 emissions by up to 90%, supporting rapid decarbonisation without infrastructure changes. With 90 years of experience across 60 Spanish ports, Moeve’s 2030 Positive Motion strategy aims to lead sustainable mobility, targeting 2.5 million tonnes of biofuel production annually by 2030.
