Marine Atlantic charters E-Flexer from Stena

FerryHot on the heels of the two E-Flexers chartered by Brittany Ferries, Stena North Sea Ltd has won a new five-year charter contract with Marine Atlantic for a specially adapted E-Flexer after a competitive tendering process.

The contract includes an option to purchase the vessel after five years. The vessel will have an overall length of 202.9m to fit in Newfoundland’s Port aux Basques and will have a high ice class. As on the two Brittany Ferries vessels, the vessel will have dual fuel engines plus batteries and will have the best possible manoeuvrability. The vessel will have a 1,100-person capacity, 146 cabins and 40 passenger pods. The E-Flexer will be delivered in 2024 and is expected to enter service on the Argentia route in the 2024-25 fiscal year. Marine Atlantic has had a long and fruitful relationship with Stena going back many years.

Length: 202.9m
Draft 6.45m
Beam: 27.8m
Capacity: 1,100 persons on board, 2,571 lane metres, including 476 lane metres for private cars
