GNV charters GOLDEN CARRIER for the Palermo-Naples route
FerryTo fill a gap, the MSC-owned GNV has chartered the RoPax GOLDEN CARRIER in the wake of Moby’s withdrawal from the Palermo-Naples route after been forced to sell some of its vessels to repay a loan granted by MSC. The vessel commenced her trading on the 25 November, with first departure from Palermo to Naples.
The A-Ships Management owned 1986-built 363 passenger/1,770 lanemetres GOLDEN CARRIER is taken in on charter for three months with an option for extra three months.
Due to a plan proposed and accepted by the Antitrust Authority (see separate news piece) to avoid the risk of sanctions for possible abuse of dominant position on certain cabotage routes, Moby was forced to dispose of and sell several vessels. GOLDEN CARRIER was sold by Unity Line (Polish Steamships) as WOLIN to A-Ships Management earlier this year.
GOLDEN CARRIER was acquired in March 2025 from Unity Line (ex. WOLIN), and after her arrival in Greece in April 2025, A-Ships Management carried out a conversion to create freight access, including the installation of a permanent ramp from Deck 3 to Deck 5 (previously, freight access to Deck 5 had only been available via shore connection). They also completed her first drydock under their management, along with maintenance and overhaul works on her main and auxiliary engines.
