Ferry runs aground at Procida
FerryCaremar’s 1,397 GT ferry DRIADE ran aground on 12 October at Procida, on the Italian island of the same name.
The incident occurred in the early evening during harbour manoeuvres with 115 passengers on board, according to several Italian reports.
Strong winds reportedly pushed the ferry against the harbour breakwater. No injuries were reported.
The 1980-built DRIADE was refloated that same evening but was detained for further inspections until the following morning. The ferry then resumed services linking the islands of Procida and Ischia with the mainland ports of Pozzuoli and Naples.
